Israeli aircraft began Saturday launching raids on the surroundings of Al-Safira city in rural Aleppo, amid continued escalation against Iranian sites in Syria.

The Syrian regime's official news agency highlighted preliminary information about the Israeli attack on the city's surroundings, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed details of raids targeting military industries and scientific research facilities belonging to Syrian regime forces.

The Observatory emphasized the presence of Iranian Revolutionary Guard elements and pro-Tehran groups in the targeted sites, at a time when Israeli strikes have been escalating since confrontations began in Lebanon last September.

Pro-Iran groups maintain multiple military headquarters in Syrian territories, hosting thousands of elements, in addition to civilian and service institutions in various areas, especially in Deir ez-Zor countryside.

Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes in Syria since conflict eruption in 2011, targeting Syrian regime forces, Iranian sites, and others belonging to Hezbollah.

Israeli raids frequency has increased in recent weeks with war escalation on Lebanon, targeting points near Syrian-Lebanese border crossings, which witnessed tens of thousands crossing fleeing Israeli bombardment on Lebanon.

Tel Aviv typically reserves confirming its operations in Syria, but repeatedly states its position of confronting Tehran's attempts to consolidate its military presence in Syrian territories.
